Fickle Head

Not even three months ago I cut my own bangs. I've trimmed them once since and once again they're in my eyes. So much so that I've been wearing them like this for the last three days:

I can't decide whether to cut them again or let them grow out...

In fact my whole head needs an overhaul. My hair is super long right now. It's all the same length and is in desperate need of a trim. Or a cut. I just can't decide what to do with it.

Here it is air dried with no styling. Looks rough, I think.

I'm actually thinking about cutting it much shorter. probably around my shoulders like this
(sorry guys, I have no sources for these photos, I've been collecting them for weeks. Let me know if you know the source or if one of these belongs to you and you'd like it removed. Thanks!)

I really love Marilyn's hair in this photo. I could totally rock this with my grown out bangs.

Or maybe chin length like this

These are kinda like my hair from a few years ago. Here's the proof:

Or maybe I'll completely chicken out and just get a trim and some layer put in

I really can't decide right now. I'm always up for something pretty drastic in my head, but I worry about regretting my decision after I get my hair cut.

I've been hating my hair, which is why I cut bangs. It was always a temporary solution. I can't afford a real haircut (and by real I mean done by a professional) until I get back to work in October so I have some time to think about it.

What do you think?

  1. I'm loving the Gwen Stefani and Marilyn pics the best right now. It's different, it'll give you lots of volume, be a bit easier to take care of (I had similarly long, all one length hair but chopped it into long layers last week and it feels so much better! Hair is heavy!), but you won't have to give up all your length and you can always chop off more in the future if you want to.

Also, do see if there's a hairdressing school nearby since they are usually dirt cheap and often do a really excellent job.

  2. A good conditioning mask is the stuff of dreams.

  3. I think your hair looks adorable now, but suspect it would look fantastic in any one of these cuts, too. I'm especially feeling like the Gwen Stefani cut would rock on you. It's got this marvelous feeling of old and new that seems really fitting for your (awesome) wardrobe.

  4. Yep, keep it long and lovely and what does THE BOY like on you? Ask him too!

  5. nancy - I'm with you. I really like Gwen and Marilyn's hair. They're for sure the front runners...you know, if I end up cutting off a lot.
I also hadn't thought of a hairdressing school. I don't know if I'm brave enough for a newbie to cut my hair...I'll probably save up and pay a pro.

mydesire - I have also heard this, but have never used one. Maybe I should look into that for the meantime. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Jessica - Well thanks hon! As I said, the Gwen cut is a front runner right now. I doubt I'll go chin length. That's a pretty drastic change I may not be ready for.

JMo - lol! A man would say that. I don't have to ask him, I already know what he thinks. He would agree with you. He loves long hair (that's why I have it long now!) and hates change (ie. a short haircut!), but thanks for the male opinion. Management will take it into consideration. ;)

  6. oh...I see you have inherited the "indecisive haircut decision" gene....

  7. I hear you...even worse than making the "haircut decision"... finding someone you trust once you decide!

  8. laurie - lol! Yes I did inherit that gene! I wonder who I have to blame for that!? ;) As for the hairdresser, I will save and go to a good salon. I think this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. No?

  9. Go short! :-) I wish I had the courage so I am living vicariously through you. However I did have long hair like yours and recently took about 5 inches off. It's nice and healthy but still long. Also, I have heard really good things about this school in Winnipeg.

  10. I say cut it short but that's because I want to but don't have the guts! But I did have super long hair like yours and recently took about 5 inches off, which was life changing in and of itself. Also, I hear good things about this school in Winnipeg. A few friends have gone and have raved, but have said it takes a lot longer than a regular salon.

  11. KB - I used to go to an Aveda salon and quit because I *hate* the way their products smell. I would go home directly from the hairdresser and wash my hair to get rid of the stink. Now that is a tragedy. But thank you for the recommendation!
