Friday Link Love #15

  • Now that my hair is shorter I've been curling it almost every day, but I use hot sticks to style my hair because I don't like sleeping on pin curls. Regardless, I couldn't help but share these incredible posts from Lavender & Twill on Pin Curling:
               - Basics of Pin Curls
               - The Curl Brush Out & Styling (totally applicable to hot stick sets like mine)

  • I used to think feminist was a dirty word. Recently, I've started to change my mind. The pinup and rockabilly culture weigh in. Read a great interview at The Rockabilly Socialite and this fabulous post at A Little Pin Up Every Day
  • Fun! 100 Years of Beauty in 1 Minute.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Link Love #14

I was hoping to post an outfit today, but I've found myself cuddled up on the couch casually surfing the internet in an oversized sweater, hair in a bun and no makeup.

So instead, I'll kick off my return to blogging with some link love and share my finds with you today.

  • I really love street style fashion. Even if it's not vintage. I love seeing what everyday people want to wear every day. Hel Looks is a great site from Helsinki with an array of eclectic looks.
  • The Sartorialist reminds us why fashion is more than just what's on the outside.
  • Do you follow Joanna over at Dividing Vintage Moments? She's come up with this incredible idea that I'm thrilled to be taking part of: The Sisterhood of the Vintage Dress. I think I'm receiving the dress around April 2015, but in the meantime go check out how other bloggers have styled it.
  • This is my new favourite breakfast: Cheddar Apple Handpies.

  • I recently bought a short vintage mink coat and I've been scouring Pintrest for outfit inspiration. I really love fur paired with casual clothes. This look is almost perfect (just imagine it with retro hair and red lips. yup. looks pretty good):

Have a great weekend!

Friday Link Love #12

  • What Not to Pack: Summer Abroad from Kendi Everyday. I think that this list could translate to a vintage or vintage inspired wardrobe in a snap.
  • I freakin' LOVE this outfit from Jessica over at Chronically Vintage. Serious skirt envy happening right here....

This entire apartment is beautiful! Go check it out at Apartment Therapy

Friday Link Love #11 (on a Tuesday and after a small hiatus)

Friday Link Love took a small internet hiatus, but it's back now. You can rest easy.  ;)

And yes, I know it's Tuesday..I couldn't wait until Friday to share these links with you folks. Enjoy!

  • Any of you who know me in person knows I love to cook. I am currently loving The Pioneer Woman's website. Ree makes delicious looking food and is very funny too.
  • And if there was one chef who I am loving even more than Ree Drummond right now, hands down, it would have to be Jamie Oliver. Especially his 15 minute meals. I've made a few so far and they've all been AMAZING!! I borrowed his 15 minute meals cook book from a friend, but I must go buy my own now. He's a freakin genius, that man...
Served it up just like this too - on a big platter with the tzatziki in the middle. The Boy and I ate until we were stuffed.

  • I've been obsessed with checking out other blogger's posts from the Viva Las Vegas 17 weekender. I really want to go one of these years, but am still trying to convince The Boy it would be good fun. (Trips are a tough sell for him. boo.) Here are a few bloggers with great photos from the event...one day...
                  - The Rockabilly Socialite
                  - Vintage Vandalizm
                  - Incendiary Blonde
                  - Technicolor Cutie
  • And speaking of rockabilly weekenders. Winnipeg's second annual River City Rumble is on this summer in August! Sadly, I missed the weekender last year (it was the only warm weekend to spend at the lake!), but I'm determined to check it out this year.

Looks like fun huh? I've never been to a rockabilly weekender, but there's a first time for everything! They're also having a Pin Up Contest which I'm very tempted to enter, but I might be a bit too shy...we'll see what happens! lol!

Friday Link Love #10

  • The 30% Theory from The Man Repeller reminded me why we keep around the clothes we rarely wear (the other 70%).
  • Another great post from The Man Repeller emphasizing the importance of a personal Uniform -  it reminded me of my outfit post from last week.
  • This blog just ran by my radar last week: Flower Patch Farmgirl. I was smitten with her kitchen reno (being in the midst of one myself)...well actually her whole house, as well as her writing (sample some of it in this beautifully written post). Let's just say I'm following her blog now.

  • What's not to love about this look from Keiko Lynn? Nothin. that's what.

  • Ruin is a Gift. Wise words posted about hitting rock bottom and personal transformation from Elizabeth Gilbert via MaryDeluxe.
  • This amazing refashion from Vintage Follies. Click the link to see what she did with this sun dress!

Friday Link Love #9

Another mixed bag for this long overdue edition of Link Love.

  • Houzz.com It's the Pintrest of home decor pictures. And you can search any random thing that comes to your mind. Like "Tile Flooring meets Hardwood Flooring" (I might have done that...and it worked!) Plus they have an incredible app. So you can search while you're on the go.
  • 10 Tips Every Blogspot Blogger Should Know from Driven by Decor  I employ all of these tips except the last two, until I read that post. I've switched to Google+ storage (and yes, I might be adding Adsense to the blog...anyone have any advice about it?)
  • I'm totally lost sifting through the blog Emily A. Clark. It's a...surprise! Interior decorating blog and I love her eclectic relaxed style.

  • And it may be a bit weird to link back to old posts on my own blog, but it's Easter weekend and Easter now makes me think of being in Israel with a show two years ago.
at the Dead Sea. Me and the two actors, Graham and Arne.

Thankfully, it was safe to be there two years ago. Unfortunately, things are not so good there now. My heart goes out to everyone affected by the conflict. Israel is an incredible place, in many ways.

Happy Easter Weekend!

Friday Link Love #8

  • Fascinating couple of articles about a fashion phenomenon dubbed 'normcore'. An interesting read for me - seeing as though I look at vintage fashion as an extension of "me/my identity".

  • Another post from The Nesting Place about taking life Slow
  • This incredible home filled with beautiful antiques.

  • AMAZING videos about washing and moisturizing your face.

  • And finally, I love this classic look from Keiko Lynn.

Friday Link Love #7

This week's post is a bit random. All sorts of things for you!

  • I just love the simplicity of this outfit from Fifties Darling. So pretty!

  • Has anyone else seen this fascinating (and somewhat frightening) video about The Innovation of Loneliness? And if you have time go check out the TED Talks speech that inspired it here
  • And another video this week for you. Did anyone watch The Voice when Melanie Martinez was a contestant? I love her unique sound and really love the video for her song Dollhouse. If you've never heard of Melanie I highly recommend searching her on YouTube. She does the most amazing covers!!

  • This stunning photo from Vintage Valley. Can you tell I'm longing for warmer days?

  • I love this blog: The Nesting Place. She has the best philosophy for living: "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful". I really enjoyed her post about The 1 Thing Every Home Needs. Go read it (and poke around her blog as well! It's a good one!)!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Link Love #6

This weeks link love is all over the map. We start out with a wintry outfit and quickly move to a whole bunch of spring looks. I must be ready for winter to be over…

  • There isn't anything I don't love about this wintry outfit from Atomic Redhead. It's the perfect combination of vintage style and effortlessness - something I am striving toward with my wardrobe these days.

  • Summer dreaming with Fleur over on Diary of a Vintage Girl. Love this hat (available to purchase here) and cluster of flowers.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Link Love #5

  • Even though I don't have naturally curly hair I adore these three vintage inspired looks (and tutorials!) for curly haired gals over on the Bobby Pin Blog. Lauren is a genius.

I know I've been a bit quiet here for the last few weeks, but stick around! I've got some outfit posts and a few other goodies coming your way in the next week or so. Have a great weekend! :)

Friday Link Love #4

Lots of sartorial inspiration for this edition of Friday Link Love. Enjoy!

  • You know how I love leopard print. If you do too, you must check out this round up of vintage photos featuring leopard print on Johannas blog

  • This post on Dear Golden Vintage about french artist Claire Basier. Aren't those spaces so beautiful?! I wish I could paint…my house needs a mural. Click the link to see more amazing images from this artist!

  • This incredibly beautiful image taken by photographer Marcin Ryczek.

Friday Link Love #3

  • Found this great rockabilly blog through some random internet meandering. Temperamental Broad. This girl has killer style with a wardrobe I am seriously coveting.

  • Mark these in your YouTube favourites. Clips from a  show on the Smithsonian Channel called L.A. Frock Stars about a high end vintage shop in LA called The Way We Wore (they sell over a million dollars worth of product a year!!!). I'm addicted and can't stop watching..here's one clip for you.

  • In order to gear up and purge some un-needed items in my life I've been reading posts from The Minimalists. If you're looking to simplify your life, declutter and de-stress I would highly recommend checking out that link and reading some of the essays on that page. I may never be a true 'minimalist', but their philosophy really helps me put things in perspective when I'm having difficulty paring down my stuff.
  • This 30's fitted jacket at Dear Golden…I love everything about it.

  • This fantastic post from By Gum, By Golly about visualizing the closet of your dreams.
  • And more to that…this post from Kendi Everyday about Accessorires - the power of them and the importance about buying quality over quantity.

Friday Link Love #2

Happy Friday! Here's the second edition of Link Love:

  • I got lost in the website Collector's Weekly last week - especially their articles on Culture. I must have read for hours. Here are some of my favourites:
                - Good Girls and Bad Boys: How to Achieve that Cool 50's Rockabilly Look

  • I know this is a Christmas related post and Christmas is over for this year, but I can't stop checking out the decor in this house. These photos are giving me the itch to tackle some more projects around my own house.
  • This Christmas outfit over at Atomic Redhead. Amazing!! That dress...awesome.

  • These booties on The Man Repeller. Optical illusion goodness. At first I thought they were socks worn in mary janes. I love them…it's fetishwear meets good-girl.

  • I've been dying to cover up the blue fairy between my shoulder blades with an amazing old school style back piece tattoo. It'll be a while until it actually happens, but I can browse for inspiration until then.
sources from top left: sleeve, chest piece, back pieceback piece

That's all for this week!
