Ok...that was bad...
I'm sorry you had to read that.
What I meant was: I bought some beautiful tulips at the grocery store the other day! All of this live beauty for $5! Can't beat it!
I need to do this more often. These make me happy! :)

Signs of Spring
Nothing could be better than the sight of pretty shoes lined up at our front door. It must be spring! :)

Respite
As you know, I've been working non-stop since New Years. Not that I'm complaining. Work is good. But getting away from it is also good.
It is officially Spring in Winnipeg. The snow melted suddenly last week and it has been unusually warm. With the quick thaw, The Boy decided we should go for a drive out of town. I am always up for a leisurely drive in the country. It's so relaxing.
We ended up at the end of a dirt road by the Red River. The Boy just drives and we never know where we're going to end up, but we always end up in the most beautiful places.
The river was still covered with ice and the ground was free of snow. It felt kind of magical.

Outfits: No More Winter Coat, No More Socks!
Spring has sprung early here in Winnipeg! I am elated! For the last few days I have been without my winter coat and today was the first day I ventured out without socks!
I wore this to work today:
I wish I had more to say today, but all I can think about it work. I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about it. Or maybe I'm just sick of thinking about it.

Spring?
Our weather sucks. It feels like fall. Rainy, cold, windy...miserable.
I am envious of all those bloggers showing off their cute spring dresses. I had to pull this winter coat out of storage today. Ugh.
Please send some sun this way!My dresses need some love! Thanks!

Homeward Bound!
I've checked out of my room, had breakfast and went to Ottawa's Museum of Nature. Now I'm sitting in the lobby lounge waiting for our shuttle to the airport. I can't wait to go home!
Ottawa is a beautiful city. I really wish I had had more time to explore and be a tourist.
We had a great closing show last night. It was a wonderful way to end the run.
Really the worst part about going home is leaving the awesome weather here. It's +20 Celcius in Ottawa and in Winnpeg there was snow yesterday. I just hope my flight won't be delayed due to weather. Sleeping in my own bed will be pretty great though. I can't wait to see The Boy and Dave.
And because this is a fashion blog. Here's what I wore yesterday.

View from behind the set in our theatre. I call the show from the booth up there.

Ragtime: Vintage in Ottawa
Another quick post for you all before I have a quick nap and head off to the venue for our show tonight. Contrary to my plans of going to several shops in the city I only managed to go to one today. Partially in an effort to keep my money in my wallet! haha!
I went to Ragtime. It was a half hour walk from my hotel in downtown Ottawa and very easy to find (thank you Google Maps!).
I knew I was home as soon as I stepped inside. That familiar vintage shop smell hit me and I was in heaven! The shop is jam packed with stuff to look at. I felt overwhelmed! It reminded me so very much of our famous shop in Winnipeg where I used to work: Ragpickers. Ragtime even rents costumes! So, like Ragpickers, much of the delectable vintage was for rent only.
Nonetheless I did manage to find two special dresses. Here are the shots in the dressing room at Ragtime:
And here they are in my hotel room, you can see the true colours (anyone else start singing Cyndi Lauper just now? I did.) better in this photo:
I have so much more to say, but just don't have time at the moment. I missed my family so much today and am glad I go home in two day.

P.S. Did you watch the Royal Wedding this morning? I did! Kate looked lovely. Kinda like a modern Grace Kelly. *Sigh*

A Quick Hello from Ottawa
Hello Blog Friends!
Today officially marks the half-way point of my trip. The hotel is lovely, the theatre and it's staff are amazing. Ottawa is really beautiful! Downtown is littered with well kept Victorian houses, nestled inbetween all of the modern buildings! It's so amazing!
The only downside of my trip so far is the food poisoning I got two days ago. Today is my first morning and afternoon off which I was hoping to spend shopping for vintage, but I may just lay low and try to get better before the show tonight. We'll see how I feel in an hour or two.
Speaking of the show, we opened last night to a very warm and responsive audience. With my limited time I took this quick bathroom photo of my outfit (well, most of it!).

Travelling Wardrobes
As a teenager I was obssessed with magazine spreads that depicted co-ordinated wardrobes for travelling.
As an adult I relish the opportunity to put that obssession to good use.
As you may remember, I am flying to Ottawa tomorrow evening. I have spent many hours in the past few weeks pondering what I might bring with me to wear.
It takes very careful thought. Being a typical woman, my impulse is to pack every item and shoe in my wardrobe so I am properly prepared for any occasion.
Experience has taught me that careful planning can avoid over packing.
For this trip I've planned a cute wardrobe with a nautical theme.
As you can see I've got many mix and match options available to me and everything co-ordinates beautifully.
Stay Tuned! I won't me MIA next week. I've got my laptop and camera in tow, a loose itinerary planned around work and I hope to post at least twice during my trip and I will definatly catch you up on all the good details missed once I'm home.

As you can see I've not packed any vintage clothing, just jewelry. I tend not to bring it with me when I fly as I would be terribly heartbroken if my luggage got lost and on this particular trip my carry on luggage is full of work paraphernalia.

Sunglasses
I love a good pair of sunglasses. (btw...lamest post name ever...I just didn't know what else to call this one) I wear mine all year round. Summer is a no brainer, but I've got to have sunglasses in the winter too. Too much light reflected off the snow. Makes me squinty.
I tend to buy cheaper sunglasses as I am hard on them (I like to throw them haphazardly into my purse when I'm not wearing them...it's bad, I know...I can't stop) and go through a pair or two a year. Sunglasses are also a great way to update your look without spending a fortune. And I like that.
I showed you my newest pair yesterday. I'm quite smitten with them.
They reminded me of two very stylish ladies:

Outfits: Spring Jacket, No Socks!
Hello again! I'm back!
I'm really loving stage managing again. Coming back to theatre was definatly the right choice. :) It does keep me really busy though. I'm working 6 days a week now. And even on my days off I seem to end up at a theatre. Sundays are my day off and I went to show the new stage manager for Gilbert and Sullivan the ropes around the theatre today. That's what work is like when you love it! You live it.
So here's what I wore today. I do tend to dress down a little when I'm stage managing. Actors come to rehearsals in sweats and casual clothes to work and move in, so dressing to the nines makes me feel out of place. Stage managing can be really hands on and sometimes I'm lifting furniture and doing any number of tasks, so flexiblility in my outfit is essential. I do try to bling it up with vintage jewelry though. I'm trying to look for new ways to satisfy my want of a vintage look with the needs of my new job.
Spring has sprung in Winnipeg and the weather today was delightlful. I've been wearing my leather jacket every day for a week or so now. It's got a nice lining so it's warm enough for the cool mornings. Today is the first day I have not worn socks. I really hate socks. They make my toes feel all constricted.

I've been wearing my hair like this almost everyday. I'm trying to grow it out and I don't want to destroy it by straightening it or curling it everyday. I can put it in a braid wet after I wash it and it still looks cute, styled with a nod to a vintage look. Win, win, win. I have a feeling this may be my go-to style this summer.
