I Hate Mornings...

This is going to be a quick post. I've agonized over my closet this morning trying to decide what to wear. It's raining and I've got rehearsal after work (I'm not sure how those are related...I'm just whining...). As I've said before, I find these days the hardest to dress for.
And the morning has slipped away from me.

Here's what I'm wearing (I've been spending my work days in the chilly basement at work. Pants are a must)

Hope you all have a great day!

Pin Up

I've been asked to do some pin up modeling in August! Some of The Boy's friends are doing a hot rod shoot and were looking for models and I was asked if I would be interested. Um...of course! I'm really excited!
I'm not sure about all the details yet, but there will be a professional photographer there. I just saw a few photos from their last shoot and it looked amazing! Can't wait!

So in honour of this news, a pin inspired outfit. (Well actually I picked this out before I decided to share the news...sounded good right?)

Today's shoes:
Cardigan and Black Skinny Jeans: Forever 21
Watch Brooch: Thrifted, Salvation Army
Red and White Bustier Style Tank: Suzy Shear
Vintage Rhinesone Buckle Belt: Was Aunt Mary's
Red Peep Toe Pumps: Le Chateau
Brogues: Aldo

Wishlist: Roots Leather Backpack

Today has got away from me again...I've been really busy with housework this weekend. How about a Wishlist Post in lieu of an outfit post? I pretty much look like I did yesterday except that I'm wearing more makeup.

I saw a magazine ad Roots not long ago and fell madly in love with their Omer Leather Backpack.

Also Available in Canvas.

The worst part is that I saw the brown leather version, which is what I would prefer, but it appears to be sold out.

That and they range from $318 - $418 in price which makes them pretty steep for a backpack. They are lovely though.

If you love these, go to the Roots website and check out all the other amazing leather products they have.

Treasures on a Most Casual Day

I am at my most casual today. I only leave the house to do two things when I'm dressed like this and I did both today: visit my Mom and grocery shop.

I've also bought some treasures this weekend I wanted to share with you. (you might have noticed the chair in the photos above where there is normally no chair!)

It was another "spidey-sense" thrifting moment. I had no intentions of going to Goodwill, but turned into the parking lot anyway and found this beauty for only $25. The colours won me over. I knew it would fit in perfectly anywhere in our house. I'm not sure just where yet, but I just couldn't leave it.

And there's more!

The Boy and I were watching the Manitoban episode of Canadian Pickers yesterday and the pickers stopped in at Mike's General Store to get something appraised. We were smitten with the store and before the episode was over we'd Google Maps the stores location and worked in a visit on our errand list yesterday.
The shop was awesome! The Boy bought some vintage Dinky Toys. And I bought these:

Polka Dot Overload!

Okay, I'm not really sure there is such a thing. I LOVE polka dots!! Any colour, any size, on any object. I'm particularly attracted to black and white dots.

This outfit has them in spades! And I believe it works. In fact, this outfit is nothing but pattern: dots, stripes and floral.

Mixing dots (or any pattern for that matter) is all about scale. Mixing scale in particular. For beginners I suggest mixing one large print and one small print. I would also suggest keeping the palette minimal. Like this outfit. All black and white.
I've also kept accessories minimal. This helps to keep you looking like you're crazy, or that you got dressed in the dark.

Advanced mixers can mix colour and pattern. For this I suggest looking at runway pics and Lookbook pics for inspiration. Do it like the pros! Like this:

Can a Cute Hat Save an Outfit?

I fully intended on wearing a dress today, but I woke up with a chill which still hasn't left me and I realized that I haven't shaved in a week. My legs look like adolescent wooly mammoths. Ew.

Alternate Post Titles this morning have been:
Same Pants Different Colout (yes, these are the same as yesterday but in blue)
OR
All Joe All the Time (I'm pretty much wearing Joe Fresh from head to toe today.)

It's certainly not the worst outfit in the history of the world, but I'm not breaking any fashion boundaries either. I thought the hat might elevate the outfit with a touch of vintage.
In fact, I'm certainly more in love with this outfit with the addition of the hat...

Straw Hat: Thrifted, Salvation Army
Cameo Necklace: Gift
Cardigan, Tee & Pants: Joe Fresh
Shoes: George (Walmart)

Is it just me, or have you tried to save an outfit with a great hat? Or maybe a pair of shoes?

Blue

Here's what I'm wearing to work today. I've forgotten to get myself some change for the bus this morning (so I have to leave early to get some) and I've found myself in a bit of a rush today.

Which is why you can see the stack of books I put my camera on to take photos. Opps! Note to self: buy a tripod....

Navy Sweater and White Pants: Joe Fresh
Blue Polka Dot Blouse: Ricki's
Wedges: George (Walmart)
50's Bow Necklace: Ragpickers
Mesh Club Med Bag: Thrifted

EDIT: After posting I realized I also appear to be sleeping standing up in both these photos...lol! Nice work...

Slumber Party

Since this post is going up late, I thought it would be fun to show you my new pjs in leiu of an outfit photo today.

Until recently I've not been a big fan of "real" pjs. I say "real" because before I considered pajamas to be an old (maybe holey or stained) tee shirt and some baggy sweats. Not very pretty.

I'm not sure what happened, but now I like cute matching pjs. I saw these at Superstore yesterday and instantly thought of vintage men's pajamas. So I bought them! :)

I've also got a pair of matching capri pants.

PJs: Joe Fresh (isn't it about time I got sponsered by them? lol!)

Repeats

Life is full of repeats. Especially in your wardrobe (unless you're rich and only wear a piece of clothing once before throwing it out). I definately have favorite outfits which I wear over and over.

Today is one of those days. Except that this not one of my favorite outfits, it just happens to be a good work standby. You've seen this outfit before actually (in fact, I originally posted this outfit last June. Wierd.).

What can I say? Posting everday is not about breaking fashion boundaries. It's about posting.

White Headband: Ricki's
Rose Pendant Necklace: Thrifted
Blue Embroidered Blouse: Katch 22
White Ruffle Front Tank: George (Walmart)
