Outfits: Fall has Arrived

So it's official. Fall has started. It is chilly today and threatening to rain. There are leaves on my lawn and the evenings are no longer balmy and warm.
(That being said, the weather channel is predicting high of +30 for the weekend. We'll see what happens).

*Sigh*
I guess it had to happen sometime.

We'll this is what I'm wearing to work today. It's the first time I've put on a sweater in months.

80's Leather Jacket: Vintage Glory
Birdcage Necklace: Ricki's Sample Sale
Pearl & Chain Necklace: From Mom
Cream T-Shirt With Tulle Rosettes: Joe
Leopard Print Cardigan: Joe
Black Cropped Cigarette Pants: Jacob
Satin Bow Pumps: Browns Couture
50's Black Leather Purse: Thrifted

Oh! Another reason I know it's Fall is because I have a terrible cold! I missed work yesterday it was so bad...
Hopefully I can beat it before the end of the week.

Inspiration: Keiko Lynn White Dress/Camel Shoes!

I love Keiko Lynn's blog! Her style is so cute! Head on over and have a peek! She also has her own online shop Postlapsaria.

I especially love this outfit! It's so fresh and summery!

Now I feel the need to find a white vintage summer dress. It just occured to me that I don't own one! The hunt is on!!

It occured to me the other day that up until recently I avoided buying brown shoes of any kind or shade. I felt that "I didn't wear brown". I'm starting to change my mind about this. My feeling now is that just because I don't buy brown clothing doesn't mean I can't accessorize a non brown oufit with brown shoes or a brown purse or belt.

Check out more photos of this outfit on Keiko's blog here!

Is there a particular colour you avoid in your own wardrobe?

Happy Monday!

Sunday, Sunday...

It's very rainy and cold here today. It feels like fall. Boo!

So, The Boy and I slept in and vegged all day.

Well, kindof. he's much better at vegging out than me...

It's my own fault really. I spent much of the morning/afternoon watching Hoarders online. If you have not seen this show look it up! It's pretty wild! It's a reality show about people who can't get rid of things (anything really) and stockpile it in their homes. I had a friend in high school whos Mom was like this. And one of my grandma's best friends is definitely a hoarder. She keeps EVERYTHING! I want to raid her closets so badly! She has almost every article of clothing she's ever owned since the 40's! Goldmine!

Anyway, what I'm getting at was the show was making me a bit paranoid, like maybe I have some hoarding tendancies. Clothing in particular. Naturally. So this afternoon I sorted through my closet and now have a bag of clothes (nothing vintage! My Goodness NO!) for Goodwill. I also went through my kitchen and linen closet. So now I feel better. I'm not a hoarder! Haha!
I'm so silly sometimes!

Speaking of Goodwill. I never told you I bought myself a vintage dress form for $20 a week ago! She's late 60's/early 70's I think. I dressed her for the first time today and set her up in the corner of my dressing room. I'll show her to you sans clothes another day.
Voila!

In other bloggy news. One of my awesome readers Kate from Vintage in a Modern World nominated me for her Hidden Gem Award! Awesome! Thanks Kate! Head over to her blog for a list of other hidden gems!

Matt's Birthday

Last night I ventured out to The Kings Head pub for my brother Matt's (I know you all know him by now!)27th birthday.

Like the good sister I am, I brought him a little vintage! Although it's hard to actually see this shirt in the picture. It kinda looks like he's excited to get a tablecloth of some sorts. I assure you the shirt is loud and wonderful! Not loud and tacky.

We took this photo because we have a picture of Matt doing this exact same pose in front of his birthday cake as a kid at my Mom's. I wish I had it so I could scan it and show you. Very cute and funny!

Well here's the closest thing I got to an outfit shot for the night. The night wasn't really about me so I let it go! ;)

A few more brother-sister arms length shots.

I don't know what we're doing in this next one! Zoolander perhaps?

A few more random party shots.

And last but not least! HAHA!!

Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for the nice words on my return!

Catching Up!

Ok. You know it's bad when your mother calls you and asks "Are you ever going to blog again?".

Then you realize that you haven't even turned on your computer for a month. Wow!

Then I feel bad. You've missed you much! July was a very busy month for me! Good Bloggers take many photos and post every day...I want to be one of those Good Bloggers. I really try.

What did you miss? Let me try and remember and get you all up to speed.

Well...that office job I had working for the small family business? Gone. It was bad. I'm now working at Urban Barn as an Administrative Assistant (I do inventory control and other random paperwork things). I love it! It's the kind of job I've been looking for! Urban Barn is a Canadian furniture company. The Boy and I will be refurnishing our living room on my discount! Yeah! Can't wait!!

I stage managed for my friends from LA Sound & Fury at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival this year. Fringe was a total blast!

I turned 28 on July 6th...which I feel is a pretty weird age...it's like when I turned 19...I was like "19? what's that? It's limbo!" The limbo between 25 and 30. At 26 it was still like being 25, 27 was still feeling "mid 20's"...I have officially entered "late 20's". 30 is looming. Sigh.
I'm actually ok. It just feels kinda weird that I'll be turning 30 in two years. Two years goes by fast.
30 is adulthood. I'm still a big kid for god's sake!
I plan on staying that way.

Anyway...onto the pictures. Because that's the best part of a blog in my opinion. Eye-candy!

Here's a random outfit I wore in July and never posted. I wear it a lot.

A Short Absence and Some New Stuff

Sorry for being gone for a week or so. I've been knee deep in projects: planning my Mom's 50th birthday party which I'm hosting at my house this weekend and sewing curtains for my living room and dining room.
I did however have time to shop! Here's a few things I bought.

I bought this dress at Rags. It's so adorable! It's gingham. Very Dorothy. So I thought I would pair it with some wicked red shoes! (The shoes are also new!)

Red Enamel Flower Earrings: Ricki's Sample Sale
50's Blue Gingham Dress: Ragpickers
Red Patent Belt: Thrifted
Red Strappy Flower Pumps: TownShoes
Red Wicker Clutch: Value Village

I LOVE this outfit!! It's all new (minus the shoes). I'm dying to wear it somewere. Just waiting for the right occasion. The hat was a steal at $16. The beach bag was $5!!

40's Straw Hat: Ragpickers
White Rose Earrings: Aldo
50's Pink and White Striped Dress: Ragpickers
50's Lace Crinoline: Vintage Glory
Wedges: George (Walmart)
Wicker Oversized Beach Bag: Goodwill

The irony of this super beachy/summery outfit is that it was pouring cats and dogs outside while I was taking the photos! haha! Our weather this summer has been so weird! Summer hot and humid!! Usually we get hot and dry! Oh well!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Words, words, words (oh yeah, and Wine...)

A couple weeks ago I was asked to take part in a fundraiser called Wine & Words for my former theatre company. Wine and appetizers were served and local actors and local celebrities read excerpts of new works from Canadian writers and playwrights.
It was so stormy that night! The rain just wouldn't stop! But there was a great turnout nonetheless! That's Winnipegers for you! We'll go to work in a blizzard, a little rain won't stop us from going out either! haha!
It was a great evening! I had such a good time I brought my camera and forgot to take pictures. There were just too many familiar faces I hadn't seen in so long. I had a lot of catching up to do!
Anyway, luckly I have a friend who is always taking pictures. So he just sent me his the other day.

Here's part of the crowd enjoying one of the readers (can you spot me in the front row with my cream hat on?)

Here is me reading. (I took off my hat to read so people could see my face).

Once the night wound down, there were still opened bottles of wine to be finished off. Me and a few other stragglers helped with that chore. Then we were off to a friends house to continue with the festivities! I think we were singing a Beatles song at this point. Well I was laughing. Everyone else was singing.

I think this was taken at about 3am. So I figure I'm looking not so bad! haha! Actually I look pretty tired...

This is the closest thing to an outfit shot for the night. Minus purse and shoes. I really love the combination of greys, cream and nude.

60's Cream Cloche with Feather and Tulle: Thrifted
50's Pearl and Rhinestone Bow Necklace: Ragpickers
Vintage Lace and Satin Camisole: Thifted
Grey Cotton Jersey Dress: Forever 21
Knee Socks: Joe
(Unseen) Two Tones Cream T-Strap Shoes: Ragpickers
Leather Shoulder Bag with Metal Detail: Ragpickers

Happy Thursday!
