Wishlist: Seamed Stockings

I've been coveting seamed stockings as of late. Fall is right around the corner and I'm already thinking of ways to wear fur and keep my legs warm in skirts.

What Katie Did stockings are the right price. I really like the nude stockings with contrast seam.

And I know they're not very authentic, but I'm liking the idea of the contrast seamed tights too. No garter belt to deal with.

And for a bit more money there's Dita's line with Secrets in Lace.

  1. Seamed stockings (chiefly black on nude and nude on nude - and yes, I know that last one sounds far more R rated than it's meant to! :D) are an absolute must for me all year round. I do go sans hosiery sometimes in the summer (though I was sporting them recently when it was +38!), but more often than not, if I've got a skirt or dress on, a seam is sure to be seen from behind! :)

Have an awesome weekend, dear gal!

    1. +38! I couldn't do it! lol!

My secret weapon for killer looking legs in the summer is Benefit Bathina body balm. It gives my lily white skin a pretty glow.

  2. I wear the WKD stuff for daily wear, and I love 'em! Their retro ones that have stretch to them are really marvelous if you've never worn vintage stockings before, and only modern tights or hose. The lack of stretch is difficult for some to grow accustomed too. Also, contrast seams did exist back in the day, I've come across them at various antique shows and shops. But my mother thinks only harlots wore them. :/

Regarding the seamed tights, totally go for it! Most people aren't going to know that they aren't real stockings. I've had times where I've been wearing real stockings, and people say to me "I like your tights." Also, they are your best bet for air travel if you are forced to through a body scanner! Garters show up on the scans.

    1. Thanks Janey! That's super helpful!

I've never worn vintage stockings before and have heard that the lack of stretch can turn people off of wearing them. One day I will try a pair, but for now I think I'll be purchasing some WKD tights and stockings for this fall.

  3. Your right Lisa, real stockings have little if any stretch. To wear them is a real art form, to tight and they pop open at the knee when you bend down, to loose and they twist and bag. I'm just old enough to remember when women had nothing but stockings to wear, almost all were seamed but the seamless type were coming into vogue. In the 40's a women who left the house, wearing a dress or skirt, with no stockings on was looked at as a loose women. The Government, in the first year of WW2 asked the Churches to drop their ban against bear legged women coming to Church as all nylon was being used in the War effort and none in the production of nylon stockings-----My---have the times have changed.
